The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors by Drew Daywalt

Bashful Book Bee's book of the week is The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors by Drew Daywalt.  That author name should sound familiar to you because he is the author of The Day the Crayons Quit.  This new Daywalt book is just as clever as his Crayon stories.  The book presents the history of Rock Paper Scissors and how they all came together to be the lead game for problem-solving on the playground.  Each heroic character had a driving desire to be the strongest and the best, only to discover their true joy is when they finally find someone that could beat them!  The drawings are as strong and bold as the characters.  Children, especially young boys are going to love it.  I think teachers will find this a fun way of introducing several essential knowledge and skills into the curriculum. Research, problem-solving, opinion, are just the first three skills I can envision using this book as the introduction.

  • This week's great app- is Padlet... Padlet is a digital canvas to allow users not in the same room, to create and collaborate with each other. Great for coordinating on a campus, across a city, or greater distances because it is digital.
