Turkey Claus by Wendi Silvano is a great book
to start the holiday story season

Blending Thanksgiving with Christmas this story takes Turkey into the Christmas season with new doubts about his future.  Turkey is the master of disguise that he proved to be in
Silvano's Thanksgiving book Turkey Trouble.  Wendi's creativity makes stories children love and also inspires them to be creative as well.  The popularity of this books is growing, so lots of educators have teaching ideas for it listed below.

Thanksgiving Turkeys

Bashful Book Bee this week wants to share TWO great turkey books for sharing this week.... it will give students great fun getting ready for Thanksgiving.
Turkey Trouble by Wendi J. Silvano

is a hilarious tale from the point of view of the Turkey... For obvious reasons
TURKEY is a little worried about Thanksgiving day.  To save himself he begins to creatively think of disguises that maybe he can wear to avoid being discovered. This is a perfect story for a writing prompt...what would your disguise be if you were a turkey....

BASHFUL BOOK BEE LOVES IT!

Another great story "little's will love is
Turkey Pox by Laurie Halse Anderson.

The family in our story is a zany group of a multi-family residence.
Each member of this family has an active part in getting ready to get
Thanksgiving dinner ready, everyone dressed and loaded
into the car to Nana's house.
When after a short time on the road, suddenly it's discovered
there are "POX" in the car.
Despite the disappointment, Dad turns the car around to head back home.
As a blizzard blows in it's obvious the family will not all be together for
Thanksgiving.  But anyone who knows the driving force of a "Nana" can predict the story will have a happy ending.  This story is FULL OF FUN.

Bashful Book Bee give the "NANA" story...

Bashful Book Bee hopes all of our readers have a blessed
Thanksgiving with friends and family.

I am.... by Brad Meltzer

Brad Meltzer author of the biographies for children's series "I Am" books has hit a win win... While he has been writing political  thrillers and non-fiction books for adults for years Meltzer has brought that skilled writing to young readers.  On a shopping trip  with his daughter for a costume, he realized most costumes were of movie characters that children idolized.

He then realized he wanted his children to know of historical figures as heroes.  In Meltzer's gifted way, he has written a series of bibliographies from George Washington to Harriet Tubman to Lucille Ball  One of my favorites  I am Amelia Earhart, Meltzer takes Amelia's story and turns it into a book young readers can read,
enjoy and find inspiration.

The story shows how Amelia's personality must have been mischievous and she must have been a definitely think outside the box girl... A young lady who knew no boundaries. The stories show the main characters as children and real situations the heroes experienced.  The illustrations of Christopher Eliopoulos have a comic book characteristics that bring smiles
to all readers especially children.
Meltzer says his core belief is ordinary people change the world, what a great lesson to encourage for our children.

Bashfulbookbee is ready to share these
great biographies with children~
I give them 5
